What is the point of prioritization, if you cannot do what is prioritized? What is the point of goals, if you cannot do what is required to achieve the goal, in time? What good are metrics if a person has no ability to do anything to positively influence them?

  • When an individual (human or agent) can do something, we say that the individual has the skill to do that thing. Thus, before considering any management technique, we need to first ask if they have the skills for the job to be done.

  • What skills do we expect in our workforce in their roles? Do our individuals or agents have the required skills for those roles? If they can, what is the individualized plan for them to acquire these skills?

  • When skill expectations for roles are defined correctly, roles normally begin with 4-6 key skills defined that are directly connected to the company strategic objectives. We can then start assessing and coaching these skills.
